Q. What is Bruins Day of Giving?

Bruins Day of Giving is Carolina University's giving challenge created to unite Bruins worldwide to celebrate our university. This 24-hour event enables our alumni, students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends to show their CU pride and support the university's best and brightest initiatives!  


Q. When is Carolina University's Bruins Day of Giving?

Bruins Day of Giving is scheduled for March 23, 2023.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a giving platform that helps nonprofits raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently.GiveGab offers a complete portfolio of simple and easy-to-use products that allow organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.


Q. Who can donate?

Anyone with a credit card and access to the internet can donate! Alumni, students, parents, faculty/staff, and friends are encouraged to support the university through these crowdfunding campaigns. When prompted in the giving form, select the role you most closely affiliate with.


Q. What forms of donations are accepted online?

MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express donations received through the crowdfunding website will be matched from the bonus pool on a prorated basis. We also accept mobile payments such as Apple Pay, Google Play, and  PayPal. No donations via check, cash, or stock will be accepted.


Q. Can I send a gift by mail or phone?

Yes. However, due to the tight period of giving efforts, only gifts made online, by phone, or in response to mailings count toward overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone, please call (336) 377-5900. 


Q. Is my payment secure?

Absolutely - the site is facilitated by GiveGab, a company that has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible), to process all gifts made through GivingDay.org. Read through Stripe's security documentation online.


Q. Is my Bruins Give contribution tax deductible? Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation acknowledging your gift that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.


Q. Is there a minimum gift?

Is there a minimum gift?

There is a $10 minimum donation.


Q. Where does my gift go?

You may donate to any of the student-focused initiatives that are participating in the crowdfunding effort. Your gift will help fund that specific project.


Q. Does it cost anything to give through the Crowdfunding effort? How much of my donation will Carolina University receive?

There is a 3.5% GiveGab processing fee and a 2.5% (+ $.30) bank fee for donations made using all major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express). You have the option to cover these costs in addition to your gift. If you choose not to do so, the cost will be absorbed through the college's administrative budget.


 Q. What if I already made a gift to the university this year?

Thank you for being a part of the Carolina University donor family! We appreciate your commitment and encourage you to make an additional gift of any size by March 23. Although you have already donated, you can help promote crowdfunding to others. We have created a sample email and social media posts to help you do this easily, located in the website's Ambassador Toolkit. Send an email to classmates, post on your Facebook page, tweet, blog, yell and put signs on your lawn. It's all encouraged!


Q. How will the donation be reported on my credit card?

Gifts made through the Crowdfunding site will appear on donors' credit cards as "Carolina University."
